Sometimes the vehicle can be within the overall weight limit but if this is unevenly distributed it could put you and others on the road in danger. Check that the load is distributed evenly across the space.

Overloading can cause difference in the handling of the vehicle, especially in the ever-changing conditions that the UK experiences. Ensure that all loads are secured and will not move around whilst driving. This will reduce these handling differences but also will reduce the risk of damage to the goods you carry.

Make sure you are aware of the maximum weight that your vehicle is allowed to carry. If you are unsure of this, you can check this at a local weighbridge.

Lastly, don’t forget that the weight of your vehicle should take into account fuel, the driver and any passengers.
