Entries are now being sought for the 2016 Bus Awards with the focus mainly being on schemes that demonstrate how the industry is meeting the challenges of modern technology which is causing many changes in the sector.
There have also been a number of changes to the awards scheme, including the replacement of the Innovation Award with a new category, New Horizons, which has been designed to capture new ideas and the development as well as the refinement of new technology of the benefit of the industry and its customers. This year sees the return of the Bus and the Community award.
Tony Depledge, UK Bus Awards chairman had this to say: “Technology and customer interests and expectations continue to develop at a rapid pace,”
He continued: “The bus industry needs to embrace these changes, and react to the challenges coming from a changing mobility and social landscape. We thought that it was important to recognise and reward the good work that many in the industry are already doing in this field.”
With re-introducing the Bus and the Community Award, the organisers say they are responding to requests from stakholders. Ton Depledge then added “Working with local communities and organisations such as schools and voluntary organisations brings a whole range of benefits to both the staff themselves and the wider industry,”
The final day for entries is Friday 10th June, and the finalists will be annouced within the first few weeks of October with the annual presentation ceremony on the 23rd November at the Ballroom on London’s South Bank.
